The Oyo State Police Command has seized a large quantity of illicit drugs, including 101 wraps of “Canadian Loud” and nine bags of Indian hemp, from an apartment in Ibadan.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. He said the drugs were discovered in an apartment on Abanise Street, Academy area, Olomi, following credible intelligence from a community partner.
Olayinka explained that information indicated the apartment was being used to store a large consignment of drugs by one Oluwadamilare, who is currently at large.
“In response, detectives were promptly deployed to the location to verify the information and act accordingly. A thorough search of the apartment and its immediate surroundings was conducted,” he stated.
During the operation, police recovered nine bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 101 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be “Canadian Loud,” as well as other hard drugs. All items were secured as exhibits.
The state Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has ordered intensive surveillance and a coordinated manhunt to arrest the fleeing suspect. He commended the collaboration between the police, other security agencies, and community stakeholders that led to the successful interception.
