An early morning fire on Monday razed sections of the popular Singa Market in Kano State, causing significant damage.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident, stating it received a distress call at about 3:16 a.m. and immediately deployed personnel to the scene.

The service’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusif, said, “As of about 10 am, pockets of the market were still burning, with firefighters working to bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading further.”

He assured that more details would be provided later.

This incident follows a recent fire tragedy in Anambra State, where a 95-year-old woman died after being trapped in a residential building blaze in Onitsha last Friday.
