The Obidient Movement has announced the implementation of digital technologies and monitoring mechanisms aimed at preventing electoral fraud in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election.
Speaking at the George Moghalu Campaign Office in Udoka Estate on Friday, the National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that the electorate’s voice is neither “stolen nor silenced.”
Tanko stated, “We gather here today with a clear message of readiness, unity, and resolve from the Obidient Movement as Anambra State prepares for its forthcoming elections.”
He emphasized the widespread presence of the movement across the state, noting the strategic establishment of polling unit operatives to reinforce grassroots vigilance.
“Let it be stated unequivocally that the Obidient family is fully on ground in every part of Anambra State. We have completed the inauguration of our Polling Unit Commanders across all polling units in the state, totalling 5,720. From Awka, Awkuzu, to Nnewi, and through every community, ward, and village, our grassroots structures are alive, active, and alert.”
Highlighting the movement’s objectives, Tanko asserted their resolve to defend the electoral mandate of the people.
“Our commitment is simple: to protect the mandate of the people and ensure that the voice of Anambra citizens is not stolen or silenced. Remember our GO MERD Campaign.”
He further revealed that the group has deployed advanced technologies to monitor the process and counter any irregularities.
“We have put in place robust mechanisms and digital technologies to checkmate any attempt to rig or manipulate the electoral process.”
Tanko closed his address with a strong warning against electoral fraud, underlining a generational shift in the nation’s political culture.
“The era when results were written in the back rooms is over. This generation of Nigerians, this generation of Obidients, will not allow the old order of electoral malpractice to thrive again.”
