Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, alongside former governors of Ekiti and Osun states, Kayode Fayemi and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on Sunday held a meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, took place at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Governor Makinde disclosed that discussions during the visit centred on major national concerns ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Earlier today (Sunday), we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” Makinde wrote.
Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 election.
Oyinlola was a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform under which Obasanjo served as president for two terms. Fayemi, on the other hand, is a key member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), although he appears to have become distant from some party leaders.
The former Ekiti governor has, on several occasions, made remarks viewed as critical of the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the APC.
