Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has cleared the air on the buzz surrounding her comments about a past relationship, insisting that she was not talking about Wizkid.
The singer recently revealed in an interview that she once dated a popular personality who kept their romance out of the spotlight. Her statement immediately set off social media reactions, with many fans pointing fingers at Wizkid because of their long-rumoured closeness.
But speaking on The Breakfast Club, Tiwa Savage said her words were misunderstood.
“It’s not Wizkid, I love and respect Wizkid,” she said. “I said the person was a public figure, but I didn’t say he’s an artist. He’s just someone in the entertainment industry. So yeah, I woke up and I saw that and I was just like, oh my God. Wiz is probably watching like, what the hell did I get into this s***.”
Tiwa further explained that her relationship with Wizkid has always been about music and friendship, not romance.
The dating rumours between the two stars first gained traction in 2018 after the release of Wizkid’s Fever video, which showed undeniable chemistry between them. At the time, both artists denied being lovers, saying they were only collaborators and close friends.
Still, fans and gossip blogs kept speculating over the years, making the duo a trending topic whenever they appeared together.
Tiwa also recalled past claims that she once trolled Wizkid after an alleged fallout, which she denied. According to her, she has “never disrespected Starboy” and remains focused on her career.
