The organisers of Big Brother Naija have announced the death of one of their crew members, Ayotunde Elegbede.
The sad news was shared by host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu during Sunday night’s live eviction show. Ebuka told viewers that Elegbede’s family had informed the organisers of his passing.
The announcement came shortly after the first two evictions of the season. Danboskid was the first housemate to leave the house. He received a warm hug from his close friend Zita before the other contestants chanted “three gbosa for Danboskid” in his honour.
The second housemate to exit was Ibifubara Davis, a 28-year-old psychologist from Lagos who joined the show seeking adventure and self-discovery. His eviction happened after voting results revealed that Denari narrowly escaped being sent home.
Earlier in the week, Big Brother had put all housemates up for possible eviction except for Head of House Victory and Kayikunmi, who was saved by Victory. The unexpected twist raised the tension in the house and kept both fans and contestants on edge.
Big Brother Naija Season 10 offers a grand prize of ₦150 million, which is the highest in the show’s history. However, the prize must be earned week by week by the housemates through weekly tasks, challenges, and performances. This twist means the housemates actively build the prize pot during the season rather than having a fixed amount waiting for the winner. Slack or poor performance could reduce the prize money available at the end.
