Security operatives raid kidnapper’s hideout, recover arms, ammunition in Anambra

A joint security team in Anambra State has dismantled a suspected kidnapper’s hideout in Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area, following a coordinated raid in the early hours of Thursday.

The operation was carried out by troops of Operation Udo Ga-Achi, the state-backed security outfit launched by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to combat rising insecurity.

The team comprised operatives from the Nigerian Army, Police, Department of State Services and other security agencies.

According to security sources, the operation was based on credible intelligence and resulted in the recovery of a large cache of weapons, including, Four locally made pistols, Three packets of cartridges containing 101 rounds, Two AK-47 rifles, Eight pump-action guns, Cutlasses, a motorcycle, and a Baofeng radio.!

During the raid, several suspects sustained injuries but managed to escape into nearby bushes. Security agencies have intensified efforts to track them down.

Anambra State has recently witnessed a surge in violent crimes, including kidnappings, armed attacks, and activities of armed separatist groups.

In response, Governor Soludo launched Operation Udo Ga-Achi – meaning peace shall prevail in January, with a mandate to flush out criminals and restore order across the state.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies as part of ongoing efforts to secure the state.
