Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have rescued three kidnap victims in Manzala village, Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to a statement from the Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Olubodunde Oni, the operation followed a distress call on December 13, 2024, reporting bandit activity in the area.
Acting swiftly, the troops pursued the kidnappers and successfully freed the victims.
Oni, confirmed that the victims have been reunited with their families.
After the rescue, the troops conducted patrols around mountainous terrains and known flashpoints in Yorro and Ardo-Kola local government areas. This effort is part of ongoing operations to neutralize threats and maintain peace.
On December 12, the troops also responded to a robbery in progress near Kasuwan Shanu in Takum town, along the Takum-Katsina Ala express road. Their intervention led to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was found with a locally made pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, highlighted the importance of Operation GOLDEN PEACE in ensuring safety in Taraba and parts of Benue State. He said the operations aim to deny criminal elements the freedom to operate and to foster peace and stability in the area.

He commended the troops for their bravery, professionalism, and swift actions during the operations. The commander also reassured the public of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He urged residents to support the military by providing credible information that could assist in combating criminal activities.
