The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a hotel lodger, Gideon Ebukwe, by unknown gunmen at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Sagamu Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola said the attackers stormed the hotel on Sunday and targeted Ebukwe, who attempted to escape through the ceiling but was shot and robbed by the assailants.

“At around 3:30 p.m., the CDC Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported an incident involving a suspected assassination. Five armed men entered Ok Winners Hotel, attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, and took his belongings after killing him,” Odutola said.

She added that the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room during the attack.

Police officers, led by the divisional police officer, visited the scene, but no arrests have been made yet. The victim’s body was taken to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo.

Odutola said investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the crime and whether it is cult-related. She also stated that the case has been transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The Ogun State Police Command has assured the public that efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
