The National Youth Service Corps in Gombe State has announced that four corps members who absconded from their duty posts will be required to repeat their service year.

This was revealed by the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Chinwe Nwachuku, during the Passing-Out Parade for the 2023 Batch “C” Stream I corps members on Thursday.

In her address, Mrs. Nwachuku stated that three other corps members will have their service year extended due to various infractions. These disciplinary actions were issued after the concerned corps members faced the Corps Disciplinary Committee.

A total of 1,210 corps members, including 662 males and 548 females, successfully completed their service year in Gombe State.

Congratulating the outgoing corps members, Nwachuku encouraged them to use the skills they gained during their service year to become self-reliant. She said, “As you prepare to move on to the next level of your life, I encourage you to take with you the training, skills, education, and knowledge you have acquired.”

She further expressed confidence that the corps members would excel in their future endeavors, whether in further education, pursuing careers, or starting businesses.

“You have equally learnt valuable lessons about the culture, custom, and tradition of the people of Gombe State, which I hope will bring about the desired rebirth, national integration, and unity Nigeria craves for,” Nwachuku added.
