A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of 65-year-old Idris Danladi for allegedly defiling a one-year-old girl.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, will be held at the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry.
Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya presided over the case on Monday, where Danladi faced a single count of defilement. Despite the not guilty plea, the court ordered his remand pending further proceedings.
The prosecutor, Ayodele Adeosun, informed the court that the alleged offense took place on August 9 at the rear of Customs Quarters, Seme Border, Badagry, Lagos. Adeosun stated that Danladi’s actions contravened sections 261 and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The case has been adjourned until October 9 for two critical matters: a ruling on Danladi’s bail application and the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution’s office.
