The House of Representatives has called on those planning a nationwide protest to reconsider and instead engage in patience and dialogue with the government.
This appeal came after a motion of urgent national importance was raised by Honourable Ibrahim Isiaka.
The lawmakers acknowledged that the challenges facing Nigeria are not unique to the country and emphasized that achieving change is a difficult process.
They urged Nigerians to recognize the government’s efforts and reforms aimed at creating a more prosperous nation.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu supported the motion, highlighting that one year of President Bola Tinubu’s administration is not enough time to resolve the nation’s problems.
Kalu proposed that the House members sacrifice 50% of their salaries for the next six months to support Nigerians.
He revealed that members of the House earn N600,000 monthly as salaries.
