Bobrisky: EFCC to probe celebrities for naira abuse
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has disclosed that it is investigating several celebrities suspected of misusing the Naira currency.
This revelation came through a statement issued by the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Sunday.
Oyewale stated that the anti-graft agency has summoned numerous celebrities for questioning, and many of them have provided significant information during the interrogation process.
“At the moment, the Commission is scrutinizing several celebrities involved in Naira abuse. Many of them have cooperated with the Commission by providing helpful statements, and more are being summoned by our investigators,” the statement highlighted.
“The EFCC remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the law without exceptions, and the public should be cautious about violating regulations against this offense,” the statement emphasized.
In the preceding week, popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, was sentenced to six months imprisonment for Naira abuse by Justice Abimbola Awogboro, with no option of fine.
