Liverpool need miracles, says Klopp over injury concerns
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed concerns over the team’s injury situation ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Southampton, emphasizing the need for “miracles” to alleviate their woes.
The latest addition to Liverpool’s injury list is Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who sustained an ankle injury during the EFL Cup victory over Chelsea. Despite joining the trophy celebrations on crutches and in a protective boot, Gravenberch’s availability for the upcoming match remains uncertain.
Gravenberch joins a lengthy list of sidelined players, including key figures like Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, and Diogo Jota.
Regarding the availability of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Dominik Szoboszlai, Klopp mentioned that while they are training, their participation in the Southampton game is still in doubt pending assessment after Tuesday’s session.
Midfielder Wataru Endo is also facing uncertainty due to a knock.
Klopp acknowledged the challenging situation, stating,”Ryan is not available. It could have been worse, but it is bad enough to rule him out of this game and the next game. We shall see,” said Klopp.
“We need miracles for a few players, so I don’t want to rule them out for too long. But it is touch and go with a lot of the boys who were not available for the final.”
Despite clinching the EFL Cup title, Liverpool aims to remain competitive across all competitions, including the FA Cup, against Southampton, led by manager Russell Martin.
