Paul Scholes questions Lingard’s focus amid gym prioritization”
Paul Scholes has criticized Jesse Lingard for seemingly prioritizing gym workouts over securing a new football club. Lingard, released by Nottingham Forest six months ago, remains without a team despite numerous rumored moves.
Despite Lingard’s attempts to showcase his fitness routine on social media, including recent gym sessions, the former Manchester United star has faced scrutiny.
Scholes, in response to Lingard’s latest post, bluntly questioned whether Lingard would merely “f*** about in the gym” or focus on returning to playing football.
“Are you just gonna f*** about in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?” Scholes wrote.
Since his last appearance for Nottingham Forest, a brief cameo against Manchester United, Lingard has not played a competitive match.
The 31-year-old has been linked to several clubs, with Everton reportedly considering an offer and Lingard expressing interest in joining Barcelona.
During the summer, he also explored a potential move to Saudi Arabia but did not receive a contract offer after a trial with Al-Ettifaq.
Addressing his uncertain future earlier, Lingard stated, “I’m considering all options. I’ve never ruled any team out, any club out, so for me it’s just picking the right team that’s going to be right for me – I just want to play football at the end of the day, that’s all I want to do.”
Despite Lingard’s 232 appearances for Manchester United, contributing 35 goals and winning the Europa League, FA Cup, and League Cup during his time at Old Trafford, his current situation raises questions about his next career move.
