Three Premier League players make a return to England team

Manchester United duo, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard have been recalled to the English national team squad by coach Gareth Southgate.

The English gaffer releases his 26-man squad list for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers on Thursday.

Left-back, Shaw last represented the Three Lions in 2018 while West Ham loanee, Lingard is making a comeback to the national team since his last appearance in June 2019.

Another returnee to the England team fold is Manchester City defender, John Stones who last featured for the national team in November 2019.

According to Southgate, he “never questioned the quality” the Manchester trio, who earned their deserved recalls after impressive spells for their respective clubs.

A surprise announcement was the inclusion of Aston Villa striker, Ollie Watkins who ultimately got the available striker’s spot in Gareth Southgate’s England camp for their World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania, and Poland.

Watkins pipped Leeds United striker, Patrick Bamford to the available spot following injuries to Danny Ings, Tammy Abraham and Callum Wilson.

Defenders: Ben Chilwell, Conor Coady, Eric Dier, Reece James, Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker
