Jigawa police arrest suspected armed robbers, motorcycle thieves

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested individuals believed to be involved in armed robbery and motorcycle thefts, causing terror in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Isah, disclosed this information in a statement that detailed how the arrests were carried out.

According to Isah, the suspects were apprehended in various operations conducted by the police in collaboration with sister agencies.

He detailed one of the incidents, stating, “Police in Garki local government received a report that on 05/12/2023 at about 0100hrs, a group of hoodlums numbering about eight, armed with dangerous weapons entered a house and robbed a person of the sum of one million five hundred thousand naira (₦1,500,000.00k), and also forced him to take them to his mother’s house where they collected the sum of five hundred and thirty thousand naira (₦530,000.00k) and two motorcycles.”

Upon receiving the report, detectives attached to the Garki Division swiftly initiated action and successfully apprehended five suspects linked to the reported crime.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdullahi Umar, Murtala Adamu, Najari Sha’ain’t, Dalaha Bashir, and Nasiru Mayau.

Isah further revealed that during a search of their residences, two fabricated firearms, two motorcycles, one Infinix Android phone, and the sum of three hundred and three thousand naira (₦303,000.00k) were seized as evidence.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities. Isah assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted, and all the apprehended suspects would be brought to court for prosecution.
