Tinubu’s aide advises Atiku to stop judiciary slander
Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to cease their campaign of slander and intimidation directed towards the judiciary.
In response to recent criticisms of the nation’s judiciary by Atiku, Onanuga issued a statement in Abuja on Monday, urging the PDP and its representatives to exercise caution in their statements.
He expressed concern over the PDP and Atiku’s attacks on the integrity of the judiciary and their libelous allegations against President Bola Tinubu, especially following the unfavorable outcomes for some elected PDP governors at the appeal court.
“In the wake of the poor run of some elected governors of the party at the appeal court, the PDP and the former vice-president and his spokesman have become overtly desperate to hang their woes on President Tinubu and the judiciary, an important arm of government in Nigeria,” Onanuga stated.
Highlighting the lack of serious thought behind the accusations, Onanuga noted that Atiku and his supporters were quick to blame others without proper consideration.
He called on Nigerians to reject the false accusations made by the PDP and its candidate, especially those claiming that Tinubu corrupted the judiciary and stifled the opposition during his tenure as Lagos State governor.
Onanuga also urged the public to dismiss the allegation that Tinubu intended to designate supporters as Resident Electoral Commissioners to impose a one-party state on the nation.
Emphasizing Tinubu’s commitment to democracy, Onanuga stated, “Tinubu was a staunch democrat who had never meddled with a court’s decision.”
