Vincent Enyeama receives honorary doctorate from UNIUYO
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, added a prestigious accolade to his list of achievements as he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State on Saturday, November 11.
Enyeama joyfully shared the news on his Instagram page, expressing gratitude for the recognition.
In his Instagram post, Enyeama wrote, “God has been my strength. He has been in the details. I can’t thank Him enough.”
The University of Uyo selected Enyeama as one of the distinguished personalities to receive an honorary doctorate during its upcoming 26th, 27th, and 28th convocation ceremonies.
Among the recipients are Senator Daisy Theophilus Danjuma, the wife of the former minister of defence, and Mr. Udom Inoyo, the former vice chairman of ExxonMobil.
Enyeama’s remarkable contributions to the Nigerian national team include securing the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, marking the country’s third continental triumph. With 101 caps, he held the title of Nigeria’s most-capped player until November 2021 when Ahmed Musa surpassed him.
Throughout his career, Enyeama earned numerous accolades for his shot-stopping skills, composure in goal, and unwavering dedication.
He received the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé in the 2013-2014 season, the Goalkeeper of the Year at the Nigeria Pitch Awards in 2013 and 2014. In March 2023, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics honored him as the Greatest African Goalkeeper of All Time.
