The Nigeria Premier Football League board has fined Katsina United one million naira and ordered the club to play their next home game behind closed doors for failing to provide adequate security during their matchday five encounter against Sunshine Stars last weekend.
Katsina United won the match 3-2, but the NPFL board found that the club had not done enough to ensure the safety of players and spectators.
In a statement on X, the NPFL said “Katsina United fined N1 million & are to play their next home game behind close doors.
This comes as a result of disruptive behavior by their fans in their game against Sunshine Stars at the weekend.
They have 48 hours to appeal or accept these sanctions.”
Katsina United have 14 days to pay the fine or risk further sanctions.
