The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued four Federal University Gusau students in Zamfara State who were kidnapped on Saturday night.

According to Capt. Yahaya Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of the Force Information Officer for Operation Hadarin Daji, “In their timely and swift response to distress calls, the combined troops of Operation Hadarin Daji in conjunction with the Nigerian police in Zamfara state has again rescued four kidnapped students of the Federal University Gusau who were abducted by terrorists at the dark hours on Saturday, 14 October 2023, from their off-campus residence at Sabon Gida under Damba area of Gusau LGA in Zamfara state.”

The incident occurred late on Saturday when two students, one male and one female, were taken from their off-campus hostel in the Sabon Garin Damba area, just a short distance from the university’s main site.

Eyewitnesses reported that despite security personnel firing several gunshots in an attempt to scare away the bandits, the kidnappers managed to take the two students.

Ibrahim explained that the Nigerian Army and the police worked together to create a “blocking position at a possible withdrawal route,” leading to a confrontation with the kidnappers in a gun duel.
