CBN: Senate to screen Cardoso, others Tuesday
The Nigerian Senate is scheduled to screen Olayemi Cardoso for the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on Tuesday, September 26.
The Senate will also screen four other nominees for the positions of Deputy Governors at the CBN. These are Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.
“The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will resume plenary on Tuesday, September 26. We will consider the screening of Dr. Cardoso at the Committee of the whole.
“Dr. Cardoso will be screened alongside four deputy governors namely Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello,” the statement from the Senate read
The Senate is also scheduled to screen two ministerial nominees on October 3. These nominees are Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, designated as Minister of Youth and Mr. Ayodele Olawande, respectively, designated as Minister of State for Youth.
Recall that Wuzup Nigeria reported that President Tinubu approved the nomination of Cardoso to serve as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on September 15, 2023.
