Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos state on Wednesday, September 13, less than 24 hours after his death.

The 27-year-old singer died on Tuesday, September 12, with conflicting reports about the cause of his death.

Some reports claimed that he died of a heart complication as a result of drug use, while others said he died after receiving treatment for an ear infection.

Fellow rising Nigerian music star, Bella Shmurda in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo in January, disclosed that Mohbad was suicidal.

According to him the late singer dealt with depression stemming from the end of his contract with Marlian Music owned by, Naira Marley.

I do not want to say this but I will. I and Mohbad were in an apartment when he suddenly said he felt like jumping from the floor we were on, downstairs all because of the issues he was having with his label” Shmurda said

Mohbad’s girlfriend and baby mama, Wunmi, debunked the reports of him battling mental health issues.

She said in a post on her Instagram story that he had been struggling with depression and anxiety for some time.

He struggled till death, too many pains, threatening, he has always lived with fear, continuous fights everywhere he goes too, he has never been happy for a whole day,” she wrote.

He was called a junkie, a mad person, mental issue so the public would have another view about him. He’s dead at least you all won, take your trophy. Y’all made me a widow at 24 years.”

Mohbad’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow musicians.

Several clips on social media showed the burial procession as many wailed when his coffin was lowered to the ground.
