To curb the spread of misinformation, journalists should self-regulate their use of social media, human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana said in Lagos on Thursday.
Such self-regulation, he said, would also stave off a likely shutdown of the social media by government.
Delivering the keynote address at a workshop on “Fake News, Internet Shutdown and 2023 Elections,’’ Falana, (SAN) noted that the abuse of social media often resulted in journalists being sued for libel or for terrorism.
