NSF: How Nigeria can host African Games without any hitch – Dalung
Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has revealed how Nigeria can host the African Games without any hitch.
Dalung made this known during the closing ceremony of the just-concluded 20th National Sports Festival at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
The former minister said the goal can be achieved if other states emulate the Edo State Government in providing world-class facilities to help promote sports in the country.
Dalung went on to laud the Godwin Obaseki-led Edo government, revealing that he was impressed with the state of facilities at the venues.
He said, “I want to challenge every other state government to put up a structure like the one we are seeing here at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. With this kind of facilities, Nigeria can host the African Games without any hitch.
“I want to thank the Governor (Godwin) Obaseki for keeping to his word. I remember he promised me when I was the sports minister that before the festival, Edo would have a world-class facility and I’m glad he kept to his promise.
“I am pleading and urging every state government to follow suit as this is the way to go in the country.”
