A 32-year-old man, Usman Abdullahi, has pleaded guilty before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for cutting his mother-in-law and her three-year-old daughter with a machete.
Abdullahi who was arraigned on Wednesday before Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu for assault entered a “guilty plea”.
The Chief Magistrate directed that the accused should be kept behind bars in prison pending sentence.
Earlier, Police Inspector Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 22 at about 6. pm in Kadara Street, Ebute Meta on Lagos Mainland.
He said Abdullahi used a machete to cut his wife’s mother, Ladi Yakubu, and her three-year-old daughter because she accused him of being responsible for the death of his child.
The offence contravened Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate adjourned the case until May 31 for facts and sentence.
