We sing a different form of afrobeats – Shuavy
Nigerian musical duo, Shuavy, recently released a four-track EP, ‘Space Lane’, and the brothers are basking in its acceptance.
Shuavy, made up of Joshua and Victor Onodu, noted that what they had to offer was a different variant of afrobeats.
The duo are certain that unlike some siblings in the entertainment industry, nothing can tear them apart.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Victor said,
“There is no way you would listen to our EP and not notice that we sing a different form of afrobeats.
“We took time to sample what everyone does and created a niche for ourselves. It is a style which we believe would take us far.
“Thankfully, the acceptance has been good. We still expect more but it is doing well presently.
“One of the songs, ‘We Dey’, appears to be the fan-favourite for now.”
Recalling how their music career started, Joshua said,
“We have been making music since we were kids. Me and my brother used to gather our other siblings at night and lip-sync songs of popular artistes such as D’banj, P-Square and 2face, and they would cheer us on.
“We went on to perform stunts at several university shows. We are not where we want to be but we believe that our big break would come soon.”
