All you need to know about #Savemayowa-campaign-turned-scam
Just two days after news broke that no fewer than N38m have been donated by kind-hearted Nigerians to Mayowa Ahmed for surgery she needed for ovarian cancer, latest reports claim the whole episode has been a scam orchestrated by Mayowa’s family.
Though it was gathered that Mayowa is truly suffering from Ovarian cancer and she was admitted at LUTH but she didn’t need money for surgery. This is because doctors had told Mayowa she was beyond treatment and no hospital in the world could treat her as she was extremely far gone.
According to the report, Mayowa had reached stage 4 and doctors, unfortunately, already told her family she won’t survive it and had advised them to take her home.
Her family instead used her situation to raise money from Nigerians. The doctors in LUTH have also denied giving her family a medical report advising her to seek treatment abroad.
Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu, who was one of those who spearheaded the fundraising, when it was dawn on her that she was being used by Mayowa’s family to rip off Nigerians of their hard earned money reportedly went to LUTH with police officers.
You can listen Listen to below audio gotten by YNaija as Aimakhu described her involvement in the #SaveMayowa ‘s fundraising that later turned out to be a scam.
