Bauchi fertilizer coy to resume production next week – Commissioner
The Bauchi State Fertilizer Company is to resume production next week after it was shut down, due to financial constraints.
The state’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Samaila Burga, made the announcement at the flag-off of the 2020 farming season in Bauchi on Saturday.
He said the company would start rolling out various fertilizer brands next week, following the granting of financial support to the company by the government.
Burga disclosed that Gov. Bala Mohammed had also reinvigorated the Bauchi State Agricultural Supply Company with financial support to restart the state’s fertilizer revolving scheme.
“Two hundred million nairas was released for the settlement of about N700 million debt owed the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority. Therefore, this will pave the way for the state’s fertilizer company to resume production next week.”
The commissioner said that arrangements had been concluded on the resumption of the production lines and that the purchase of needed raw materials had also been arranged.
He said that the resuscitation of the plant would make its products compete with similar products produced locally or overseas.
