Abducted Army Captain, two others regain freedom
An army officer, Captain D. Gana, and two others who were abducted two days ago by some unknown gunmen in Ondo State have been released on Thursday morning.
The military man and other travellers were kidnapped along Auga Akoko- Kabba expressway, in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state on their way from Abuja and dragged into the bush to an unknown destination.
Shortly after, the hoodlums were said to have contacted the families of the victims, demanding a sum of N5million each before they could be released.
However, it was gathered that they ( the victims) were rescued by a team of security men who combed the forest but no arrest was made.
The spokesman of the Nigerian Army 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Captain Ayorinde Omojokun, who confirmed the development said the team of security men went into the bush and made the rescue of the officer and two other victims.
He noted that there was no ransom paid before the victims were rescued.
He said:
“Our men went into the bush in the night to rescue the people, the officer was rescued and two other victims met there were also rescued.”
It was also gathered that the kidnappers escaped from the den during the operation.
