TRACE deploys officers to inter-state, borderline routes in Ogun
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) says it has deployed officers to borderlines and inter-state routes to enforce the new transport guidelines to further contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The TRACE Corps Commander, Seni Ogunyemi, said on Monday in Abeokuta that his men, in the full strength of operational apparatus, would collaborate with other services, particularly at the borderlines and inter-state routes.
Ogunyemi said in a statement that the command had a strategic enforcement plan for the new transport guidelines of the government, aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19.
He listed the routes and borderlines under Ogun traffic corridor to include: Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; Old Lagos-Sango-Ifo-Abeokuta Expressway; Interchange-Sagamu-Ijebu/Ode-Benin/Ore Expressway; Abeokuta-Odeda-Ibadan Highway and Atan-Lusada-Agbara-Badagry Highway.
According to him, others were: Papanlato-Owode-Idiroko Highway; Ijebu/Ode-Agbowa-Ikorodu Highway; Ijebu/Ife-Ilese-Ijebu/Ode- Oru-Ibadan Highway and Rounder/Abeokuta-Olorunda-Ayetoro-Imeko-Ilara border.
Ogunyemi said that all TRACE Corps Area Commanders, Divisional Commanders and Unit Commanders would start the execution of the strategic enforcement plan as directed by the government.
He urged the general public, particularly the motoring public, to adhere strictly to the curfew imposed by the Federal Government from 8.00 p.m to 6.00 a.m daily across the country.
The corps commander added that any person arrested for disobeying the restriction order would be prosecuted and his/her vehicle impounded.
