COVID-19: Inspector-General of Police, 11 others test negative
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has tested negative for coronavirus.
The IG received the result of the test this morning, after submitting samples last Friday.
The test was sequel to reports that the police boss was exposed during his son’s wedding in Abuja on March 14 to a high profile official who tested positive for coronavirus.
The police confirmed this in a tweet on their official Tweeter handle @Police NG.
Other officers who also tested negative include the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba; the Principal Staff Officer to the IG, DCP Idowu Owohunwa; Head of the Force Technical Intelligence Unit, DCP Lanre Ogunlowo and Personal Physician to the IG, CSP (Dr) Nonye Welle.
Others are the Medical Officer, Police Clinic, Force Headquarters, Abuja, CSP (Dr) Titus Adegbite, Secretary to the IG, SP Moses Jolugbo; Aide-De-Camp to the IG; orderly to the IG; the guest relations officer, guest attendant and the force spokesman’s orderly.
“While noting that policing is a high-contact job with its attendant risks, the IG enjoins police officers nationwide to adhere strictly to all precautionary and safety measures in the course of their day-to-day activities,” the post read.
Adamu equally enjoined members of the public to voluntarily obey all restriction orders imposed by the authorities.
