Bandits kill 16 people in Zamfara
No fewer than 16 people lost their lives after bandits attacked two villages in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to reports, eight people were killed in each of Malele and Babban Kwari villages.
One Malam Shehu Malele said the bandits engaged the villagers, who tried to defend themselves, in a fight.
“The bandits who were on motorcycles first entered into Malele village where they killed eight people and destroyed two vehicles and three motorcycles,” he said.
“After they attacked Malele village, they also moved to Babban kwari village where they also killed another eight people and carted away with animals and food items.
Those killed and buried according to Shehu are, Mamuda Maharazu, Muazu Baushi, Muhammadu S/Daura, Sani Mutunji, Mai Unguwa Ande Babban Kwari and Bukar Idi.
Others are an Ibo man, Friday Godi, Sirajo Manu, Nafi,u Lawali Malele, Nura Kurma, Rabi,u Mahalo and Dantani Sani.
The rest are, Malam Usman Na,ibi Babban kwari, Malam Murtala babban kwari, Ashiru kabiru babban kwari and Fatima Dantsoho.
Speaking the newsmen on the issue, the Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Dauran said:
“We only got the report of the killing of seven people from Malele village as reported by the Emir of Dansadau, Alhaji Husaini Umar”.
Dauran said he was waiting for the report of Babban Kwari village.
He, however, maintained that the problem was caused by some bandits who came from the neighbouring states of Kebbi, Niger and Kaduna, adding that,
“We have already mobilized the security personnel to arrest the criminals and bring them to justice.”
