Kogi: Task Force arrests 28 suspected cultists, kidnappers, bandits

No fewer than 84 suspects were arrested on Friday during a clean-up operation carried out by the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce in Agege.

The exercise was focused on clearing out areas believed to be harbouring criminal elements, including the Railway corridor at Ojurin, as well as Isale Oja, Oke Koto, AP axis, and nearby streets in the Agege area.

Confirming the operation, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said in a post on his official X account that the taskforce moved in following reports of illegal activities in the area.

“Lagos State Environmental Taskforce on Friday, 20th June, 2025, embarked on its ongoing clean-up enforcement operation in the Agege area,” Wahab wrote.

“The areas visited during the operation include: Railway corridor (Ojurin), Isale Oja, Oke Koto, AP in Agege area, and other adjoining streets where the presence of some undesirable elements was noticed.”

Wahab added that the state government is serious about enforcing environmental laws and maintaining order across the state. He said the arrested suspects will face prosecution according to the law.

He also stressed that the government will not tolerate any form of environmental abuse or illegal occupation of public spaces, especially when they pose a threat to the safety of law-abiding citizens.
