A Nigerian academic and independent senior researcher at the University of Fort Hare, Dr Ayodele Odularu, has been found dead at her residence. This occurred in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province. It has become a matter of concern for the Nigerian scholar South Africa community.
According to Leadership, the 51-year-old scholar died on August 16. Members of her family are raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her death. This has drawn attention among the Nigerian scholar South Africa network.
Her relatives reportedly believe her death may not have been natural based on what they described as signs discovered at the residence. However, investigations are still ongoing. No official cause has been established.
University mourns Nigerian scholar
The University of Fort Hare paid tribute to Odularu and praised her contribution to research addressing social and developmental challenges. Indeed, her impact as a Nigerian scholar South Africa was widely acknowledged across the university.

“With hearts filled with gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Dr Ayodele Temidayo Odularu, who departed this world at the age of 51,” he said.

He said she was remembered for her generosity, resilience and commitment to uplifting others.
Authorities have yet to publicly establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
