One killed, 13 injured as stolen truck rams into US office

A 42-year-old man in Brenham, Texas, Clenard Parker, has crashed an 18-wheeler into a Texas Department of Public Safety office, resulting in the death of one and 13 injuries.

According to a media briefing from the police department by Sgt Justin Reese who said the incident occurred shortly before 11:00 a.m., and multiple law enforcement agencies were in pursuit of the stolen truck, driven by the suspect who had visited the DPS Brenham office the day before and was denied his commercial driver’s license renewal.

Reese of the Texas DPS stated that after spotting the stolen vehicle, law enforcement attempted to stop it.

However, Parker made a U-turn,crashing through the office’s front where he was apprehended and removed from the vehicle as he attempted to ram the building again.

The incident, described as a “criminal investigation,” is being led by the Texas Rangers.

Fortunately, Parker sustained no injuries in the crash.

“Of the 14 people in the office during the incident, one person died, two sustained serious injuries, three were hospitalized and later released, and eight were treated at the scene, as confirmed by the department on X (formerly Twitter).”

“What I can say today is that this area is safe. We’ve got the suspect in custody, and we’re all out here trying to get the scene all fixed up and taken care of,” Reese said during the media briefing

Texas DPS Regional Director Gerald Brown expressed condolences, while Senator Lois Kolkhorst vowed full prosecution of the suspect.

Parker will be faced with charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest, causing severe bodily injury. Senator Kolkhorst denounced the act as intentional violence and pledged justice for the victims.

As the community mourns the aftermath, thoughts and prayers are extended to the deceased, the injured, and their families.” he said.
