ANKARA-JACKET

An Ankara (African wax) fabric sewn into a kimono jacket is busy trending on the Net, with tailors and clients alike offering their opinion about the price tag.

The style, decked with stone works and made with two different fabrics, is up for grabs at N85,000 (eighty-five thousand naira only).

Offering explanations for what many consider an “outrageous” price tag, someone wrote: “Not all Ankara fabrics are cheap. Vlisco fabrics cost upwards of N50,000 (for six yards), and some even go for as much as N200,000 … I think this is a fair deal.”

Other respondents see things differently, though; as many are of the view that this particular jacket is overpriced.
