Ahmed Gulak, aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan, was shot dead on Saturday in Owerri, Imo State. His death has shocked many including the President, Major General Muhammed Buhari (retd.) who has vowed to ensure his killer’s are brought to book.

2. He was an ex speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly.

3. Aside from being a politician, he was a lawyer

4. In 2014, he declared intention to run for the seat of State Governor, arguably the biggest office in Adamawa, on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.

5. The late former lawmaker was accused by some PDP governors of imposing himself as the national chairman of the then ruling party following a crack in the party in 2016.

6. Gulak was a political aide to former president Jonathan before the President, Major General Muhammed Buhari (retd.) took over the new government in 2015.

7. Accompanied by supporters, Gulak defected from the PDP to the APC, giving his justification for the defection to Buhari administration’s effort towards “degrading Boko Haram terrorists.”

8.The Adamawa PDP turned down the choice of Gulak as the party national leader and endorsed the candidature of Ambassador Wilberforce B. Juta, a former governor of the defunct Gongola State.
