Kidnappers free two more abducted Sokoto-bound NYSC members
The National Youth Service Corps has reported the successful release of two additional female members who were abducted along with others in Zamfara while on their way to the orientation camp in Sokoto.
This brings the total number of released members to four out of the eight initially kidnapped.
Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Eddy Megwa, confirmed the news in a statement issued on Thursday.
He recalled that the abduction involved eight PCMs and their driver back in August and expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for their efforts in securing the recent releases.
“The Nigerian Army recently secured the release of a male and female abductees, while efforts are seriously ongoing to ensure the safe release of the remaining four Prospective Corps Members
“NYSC management also wishes to appreciate the overwhelming support received from the Nigerian Army in its concerted efforts towards securing the release of the abducted prospective corps members,” Megwa said.
While emphasizing the ongoing efforts to rescue the remaining four members, the NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Yush’au Ahmed, reassured the public and the concerned families of the scheme’s unwavering commitment to their safe return.
He highlighted the collaborative efforts with security agencies and their unwavering dedication to bringing this ordeal to a successful resolution.
