UPDATED: One killed, others injured in US beach shooting
Following an active three seperate shooting at Jacksonville Beach leaving one dead and two injured, the bar area and beachfront in Jacksonville have been closed down after the scene of the incident expanded into the area.
Sergent Tonya Tator said in a media briefing on Sunday that the area will be shut down until further notice.
The first shooting was reported at 7:05pm,when two people started firing guns near the Best Western Hotel in Jacksonville Beach,the second shooting happened at 8:13pm when a man fired shots while running in front of business, while the third shooting shooting was around 8:31pm leaving one dead, the police said on Monday.
Tonya on Sunday said that authorities are still looking for the suspect and urged people to share anything they see or know about the incident.
Although the guns have been retrieved, the police said they are still looking for the suspect.
The police had earlier asked the public to shelter in a place while working actively uncovering the shooting incident.
They posted on their social media page on X saying “the Jacksonville Beach Police Department is actively responding to an incident in the downtown Jacksonville Beach area. Please avoid the area and if you have any information that can assist police, call 904-270-1661.”
