The Federal Government, through the Special Adviser to the President on health, Dr. Salma Anas-Kolo, has reaffirmed its dedication to addressing the grievances of Nurses and Midwives to enhance their satisfaction and elevate service provision standards.

In addressing efforts geared towards enhancing healthcare, particularly maternal and child health services, Salma-Kolo assures that the government will address the concerns raised by the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives to foster a conducive atmosphere for optimal performance.

Recent protests staged by NANNM members in Abuja and Lagos highlighted dissatisfaction with perceived obstacles hindering their career advancement opportunities. Key issues raised include welfare disparities, salary structures, understaffing, and broader rights concerns.

The nursing regulatory council’s updated directives stipulate that applicants seeking certification verification from foreign nursing boards must possess two years of post-qualification experience from the date of obtaining the permanent practicing license.
