The Federal Capital Territory Administration has taken action to remove over one thousand miscreants from the Inner Northern Parkway corridor, located off Abidjan Street in Wuse Zone 3.

The Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Felix Obuah, highlighted the importance of beautifying the city and stated that driving out suspected criminals was part of the administration’s commitment to achieving this goal.

“We aim to make Abuja one of the cities that people can be proud of in the world,” Obuah said. “This place has been overtaken by shanties, and many criminals have made it their home. So, we have decided to clean up the area, reclaim it, and give Abuja the desired appearance.”

Obuah emphasized the swift action expected from the FCT minister to prevent the reoccupation of the area by miscreants. “The minister will immediately take action to ensure that this road is constructed, as he is doing with other roads in the FCT,” he stated.

To prevent the miscreants from returning, Obuah outlined plans to relocate them to a suitable location. “We will send a task force here to ensure that nobody builds a shanty in this environment anymore. We will make provisions for them so that they do not suffer undue hardship,” he assured.

Mohammed Musa, the chairman of the area known as ‘Ungwan Lambu,’ explained that many residents had been living in the area for twenty-seven years due to insecurity in their home states. He expressed gratitude to the government for allowing them to reside there and urged the FCT Administration to provide assistance.

“Most of us are here because of insecurity in our state of origin. We need help,” Musa said.

The FCTA’s efforts aim not only to improve the appearance of the city but also to address security concerns and provide support to those affected by the clean-up operation.
