ABANDONED! Young businessman threatens governor with suicide, asks him to resign [Photos]

A young businessman, identified as Isma’ila Abdullahi Shabege on Friday, threatened to commit suicide if Zamfara State Governor, Abdulhaziz Yari, did not step down as chairman of Nigeria’s Governors Forum.

The young man, who works as a tricycle fabricator in Kano State, was said to be a praise singer to the governor during the 2011 general elections.

It is alleged that the governor promised to help him boost his business when he gets to the seat of power but declined to fulfil his promise.

Shabege, in the suicide note he left behind, claimed that the governor abandoned him after he had promised to support him to boost his trade of tricycle fabrication.

The young entrepreneur reportedly stormed the premises of Kano Broadcasting Corporation’s booster station at Tukuntawa, around 6:00 am this morning and climbed the mast in an attempt to commit suicide.

A witness, who gave his name as Musa Usman said the fabricator was behaving funny before he climbed the mast, adding that it was the state’s Fire Service officials in collaboration with the police that convinced him to come down at about 11:45 am.
