Toke Makinwa reacts after blackmailers threaten to release her n*des

On-air personality, Toke Makinwa, has come under heavy criticisms for saying chivalry is having bills paid by men.

The On Becoming author said that Chivalry is not dead, adding that Nigerian men deserve some accolades.

She took to her Twitter page and wrote,

“Chivalry is not dead, at least not in Nigeria, shoutout to the real men. I can’t even lie y’all need accolades.

“I stopped counting, each time I’m out and I ask for my bill, someone has paid it. Cheers.”

The chivalry conversation was ignited by author Chimamanda Adichie who said she doesn’t fancy the idea of men getting the door for women.

Adichie had said,

“I’m quite happy for people to hold the door for me. But I hope they’re not doing it because of this sort of idea of chivalry.

“Because chivalry is really about the idea that women are somehow weak and need protecting.”

However, Toke Makinwa’s assertions was met with a wave of criticism, with many scolding her for lacking an understanding of chivalry.
