An online investment scheme identified as “XM Future Music Group” has allegedly collapsed, leaving numerous Nigerians unable to withdraw their funds and sparking widespread concern across social media platforms.
The platform reportedly lured users with promises of extraordinary profits, claiming investors could earn returns of up to 100 per cent within 30 days. According to reports, participants were told they could generate income by listening to music and carrying out simple online tasks.
Investment packages on the platform were said to range from ₦21,600 to as much as ₦93 million, with assurances of massive payouts worth hundreds of millions of naira.
Operating under the name “XM,” the scheme allegedly portrayed itself as a music promotion platform that rewarded users for streaming songs and engaging in digital activities. Attention around the platform grew after promoters reportedly claimed that an investment of ₦21 million could yield ₦327 million within one month.
Reports also indicated that users were required to pay a mandatory “work deposit” after completing a brief trial period before gaining full access to the platform’s services.
Signs of trouble reportedly emerged within the past 24 hours after withdrawals were halted, support groups were either muted or deleted, and the platform became inaccessible. Many Nigerians described the development as a familiar pattern associated with failed Ponzi schemes.
“Greed don turn people to looters again. XM Future Music na classic Ponzi, now office dey empty while investors dey cry,” the user wrote.
“Make we learn abeg, nothing like ‘100% return in 30 days.’ If e too sweet, e dey poison,” he added.
The development has since triggered fresh reactions online, with many Nigerians demanding tighter regulations for digital investment platforms and tougher measures against fraudulent operators.
Several commentators also advised Nigerians to be cautious of platforms promising guaranteed or unrealistic profits, warning that most Ponzi schemes eventually collapse and leave investors with heavy losses.
