Terry Bollea, better known to fans around the world as “Hulk Hogan,” has died at the age of 71.
The wrestling icon passed away at his residence in Clearwater, Florida, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Reports indicate that Hogan suffered a cardiac arrest at his home.
Emergency personnel responded quickly, but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hogan became a global phenomenon in the 1980s, ushering in a new era of mainstream popularity for professional wrestling under the banner of “Hulkamania.”
He made history by headlining the inaugural WrestleMania event in 1985 and went on to secure six WWE world championship titles.
His impact on the industry was further recognized through his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame on two occasions, in 2005 and again in 2020.
