Wizkid vs Tony Elumelu: Fans compare their net worth

Published

Fans of Ayodeji Balogun a.k.a Wizkid has attempted to compare his net worth to that of UBA chairman, Tony Elumelu.

This is coming after Wizkid was pictured hanging out with Elumelu in Mali on his Instagram page.

The photos which have gone viral on the internet has garnered thousands of comments and likes which led to the “net worth debate” on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Wizkid had hinted that he signed a new deal with UBA.

He wrote on his Instagram page; “UBA X Starboy 2019!! Thank u @tonyoelumelu! #AfricasGlobalBank! ??#DoneDeal!.”

The trendy topic has courted controversy online with many mocking “Star Boy’s” humble net-worth to Tony Elumelu’s worth.

For record purpose, Elumelu is an economist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is the chairman of Heirs Holdings, the United Bank for Africa, Transcorp and founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation.

Elumelu holds the Nigerian national honours, the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR). He was recognised as one of “Africa’s 20 Most Powerful People in 2012” by Forbes magazine.

WuzupNaija reports that Wizkid was ranked 5th on Forbes and Channel O’s 2013 list of the Top 10 Richest/Bankable African Artists.

In February 2014, the 28 year old Star Boy became the first ever Nigerian musician to have over 1 million followers on Twitter. He is the first Afrobeats artist to appear in the 2018 Guinness World Records for his contribution to Drake’s hit song “One Dance”.

However, one Twiter user, @sean_wizzie, said “Tony Elumelu’s worth is $700million, Wizkid’s worth $12 million. 1 Tony= 58 wizkids.”
