The Federal Capital Territory Administration has begun enforcement on 1,095 property titles revoked for failure to pay statutory land charges.
The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, confirmed this on Friday.
According to him, the minister, Nyesom Wike, approved the move after several notices were issued to defaulting property owners.
He said, “The general public, particularly holders of property in the FCT, are hereby notified that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has approved commencement of enforcement actions on a total of 1,095 properties in the Federal Capital City for defaulting in various payments.”
The affected properties are located in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki and Wuse districts.
Out of the 1,095 properties, 835 were revoked over default in ground rent payments, while 260 others were linked to violations involving land use conversion fees and other penalties.
The FCTA said it published repeated notices between May and November 2025 in national newspapers, online platforms and television stations, warning defaulters to pay their dues.
It noted that the continuous failure of the property owners to comply went against Section 28, Subsections 5(a) and (b) of the Land Use Act, as well as the terms attached to the Rights of Occupancy.
Olayinka added that the minister approved enforcement after the final 14 day grace period expired on November 25.
He said the administration will now proceed with enforcement on the 835 properties owing ground rent and the 260 others defaulting on violation and land use conversion fees.
