Wike praises PEPT judgment on Tinubu’s victory
The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has praised the Presidential Election Petitions Court for upholding the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in the February 25 presidential election.
Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, spoke exclusively on Channels Television on Thursday, one day after the court’s marathon ruling.
“Nigerians have spoken, and the court has confirmed it,” Wike said.
The former governor of Rivers State praised the five-man panel of the Tribunal, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, for delivering its judgment with great care. Wike stated that he did not expect the election to be overturned because the President won fairly.
“I am happy; it is a moment of joy. I celebrate Mr. President and congratulate him and his Vice, Shettima, on their victory,” Wike said.
He also commended the judiciary for its work. “For the first time, as far as I am concerned, I have never seen what I saw yesterday. It opened the eyes of the public. I commend them. For sitting for no less than 10 hours to deliver those judgments, you must commend them for taking each time one by one painstakingly. For me, it shows that our judiciary is improving,” Wike added.
