The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, expressed concern this week over numerous unfinished infrastructure projects scattered across Abuja.
During a tour in Abuja on Thursday, Wike lamented the high number of abandoned constructions that have languished for years despite their potential benefits.
“It is not good to start a project that will have positive impact on the lives of people and the city and then just abandon it,” he remarked while inspecting the long-stalled Millennium Tower development.
Regarding the Millennium Tower, he said, “Let us start doing something about this before talking partnership. If we wait for partners it will take us three years before work starts.”
The minister’s visit spotlighted roads, buildings, and amenities in various states of disrepair. He tagged the situation “worrisome” and vowed to meet with President Bola Tinubu about unfinished housing for top officials.
Wike was accompanied on the tour by FCT Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud and other top territorial officials. He charged them with creating a plan to remedy the eyesores he witnessed firsthand across Abuja.
